Ketty Haolin Zhang

Artist member since 2022
Surrey, BC

Ketty Haolin Zhang (b. Chaoyang, China) is a visual artist currently based in so-called Vancouver, Canada. Informed by her diasporic experience as a 1.5-generation immigrant, Ketty's work navigates her relationship with placelessness to understand what it means to "belong everywhere and nowhere" in a hyper-globalized world. Translating her reflections with images of nightlife, domestic objects and liminal spaces, she aims to unpack the sense of belonging and safety associated with the in-between, and to explore how discourses of place and home are entangled with cultural identity.

Ketty holds a BA in Visual Arts from the University of British Columbia (2018) and has exhibited at Vancouver Art Book Fair, Beijing Design Week, Canton-Sardine, Surrey Art Gallery, The Reach Gallery Museum, Hatch Gallery among others.
